Nar-Anon Website Committee 23/5 2010

To: Webmaster of Nar-Anon websites
Dear Webmaster:
The Nar-Anon World Service Website Committee had a meeting on May 23, 2010, during which the subject of appropriate links to outside agencies and programs was discussed. The committee determined that it is a violation of Tradition 6 and Tradition 10 to provide a link to any outside agency or program.
Tradition 6 states: Our family groups ought never to endorse, finance or lend our name to any outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our
primary spiritual aim; but although a separate entity, we should always cooperate
with Narcotics Anonymous.
Tradition 10 states: The Nar-Anon Family Groups have no opinion on outside issues; hence our name ought never be drawn into public controversy.
Also Tradition 4 makes us aware that we should not take action which affects all Nar-Anon Family Groups. When each link is provided from the Nar-Anon World Service Organization website to a region or country’s website, that website should follow all traditions to support unity of Nar-Anon as a whole.
Tradition 4 states: Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other Nar-AnonFamily Groups, or N.A. as a whole.
It was discussed that further discussion is still needed on appropriate way to post a link to NA websites, but at this time, it is suggested that a note is placed beside a link to NA which states “In cooperation, not affiliation”.
For questions regarding this, you may reply to this message or write the chairperson at Antonio@nar-anon.org .
Thank you for all your service.
